Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme
FaCT is able to provide the SSSTS course online several times a week, as well as some classroom courses at different locations across the country.
We deliver both the 2-day full course and the 1-day refresher course, if undertaken before the certification end date.
The course includes
- Health and Safety Law: Understanding the Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations, and legal duties of supervisors.
- Risk Assessments & Method Statements: How to identify hazards, write risk assessments, and implement control measures using the four safety-critical questions (hazards, harm, controls, effectiveness).
- Supervisory Skills & Behavioural Safety: Monitoring site activities, recognising unsafe acts, intervening promptly when bad practice occurs, and driving a positive safety culture.
- Communication: How to conduct impactful site inductions, deliver effective toolbox talks, and brief teams on method statements.
- Specialist & High-Risk Activities: Managing specific site hazards like working at height, manual handling, waste management, and pollution control.
This course is a requirement for those wishing to apply for a Gold FISS/CSCS or CSCS card
